I just finished watching what is now my favorite Disney movie. Moana is great all around. It has a great message, great graphics and video. It has funny dialogue and a kick ass soundtrack.

Moana is a Pacific Islander that was chosen by the sea to find the demi-god Maui, who can restore the heart of Te Fiti, the goddess of life. As the movie progresses, the story changes a bit and I love it.  I think everybody would love it.

I give Moana 5 out of 5 stars.

It also makes me want to visit the South Pacific...which now that we have a new bed that is worth half my car is probably not going to happen any time soon.

We bought a bed!

So our mattress was a pile of we decided to get a new one.

This blog post is meant as a warning:
Do NOT go to a Sleep Number mattress WILL buy a bed there.

The entire store is composed of different mattresses you can chose from, and it's like a little "walking" tour where you lay on a mattress, the salesman explains how this mattress functions and what it's made of and why you should buy it, then leaves you alone for about 10 minutes, where, inevitably, we were going to fall asleep because I am a night shift-er and Jeremy is a grad school student. We pretty much ran around the store doing this:

When you first walk in, they lure you to a mattress where they determine your sleep number. Both Jeremy and my sleep number was 45, and he could program all the mattresses to accommodate our number.

There are 5 beds that you sample. Each one is a little more complex (and therefore more expensive) than the last one you tried, until ultimately you end up on the big dog- like a mattress to end all mattresses. This thing can heat or cool your body, has a massage function, will raise or lower your head and even has a 0 gravity function which takes pressure off your lower back.

Which one do you think we bought?

You're right.

There's a reason you try the nicest bed last. Because you instantly want it. Literally, laying there fore 10 minutes I felt like a new woman. I'm pretty sure I discovered how to solve world hunger, cure cancer and finally please my mother- that's how good that mattress is.

I want that bed NOW. However, I have to wait until Friday, which seems like an eternity from now.

You ever seen this commercial where the couple in their sleep number bed is doing this?:

That's because a sleep number bed will fix your marriage, and now this how you sleep.

Oh and did you know you could finance a bed? Because we just financed our life away...

Ghost Ship

I watched Ghost Ship yesterday. It was a movie made in the early 2000s, and is labeled under horror/action. Really, it's almost like a bunch of satire. If you watch it drunk like me, it's almost a comedy.

A team of abandon ship scavengers comes across a big payout found by an airplane pilot floating in the Bearing Sea. When they finally find it, they discover it is actually an ocean liner that went missing in the early 1960s.

Little did they know as they boarded the abandoned ship, it wasn't abandoned after all (cue ominous music...)

The ending has a bit of a twist which I found to be quite entertaining, but I overall I give it 2 stars for entertainment, 5 stars for drunk laugh factor.

I thought the whole concept of ghost ships was kind of interesting, so I looked up some information online...

In 1840, a schooner was found in the arctic, all aboard were dead and frozen- including the dog. The captain was frozen to his chair, his pen still in his hand. In his Captain's log his last words were, "No food for 71 days. I am the only one left alive."

I guess he didn't make it.

It was discovered that this was the Schooner Jenny, an expedition vessel that had set sail in 1823, and had gone missing-- apparently stuck in the ice.

Crazy stuff!

Black Mirror

Today I started watching Black Mirror on Netflix. Something is incredibly unsettling about this show, I guess because I absolutely hate social media (which is weird, I know, considering I made this blog... but whatever it's my life).

Season 1 of Black Mirror opens on a day in age where your social media ratings drive everything in your life. Lenses can be placed in the eye to see everyone's social media rating without even having to look them up. As I'm writing this, I can imagine reading that summary and thinking, "that sounds incredibly stupid," and you might think that it is, but it really is very well done.

I made a conscious decision not to have kids. I married later on in my 20s- my husband in his 30s and we had established ourselves and enjoyed traveling too much to bother with kids. But I have a side job tutoring high schoolers and let me tell you- they think social media is everything.

As a young person, it seems like you can't escape it. They are obsessed with popularity and what other people think of them or what other people have. I, myself, got off facebook because I was starting to envy other people's perfect pictures they threw up there. Even as an adult, it's easy to get caught up in what you don't have.

As the saying goes:

Even owning a blog can bring you strife over how you size up to others.

How can I get as many followers as those other people?
Am I as funny as them?
Do I sound as intriguing as everybody else I follow?
And then I take a step back...wait...I started this blog for me.

Do I want you to read it? Absolutely.
Do I want you to find it funny? Damn straight I do.
But as long as I enjoy going back and reading my posts then is it important that I have as many followers as The Bloggess, or JenFul? Heck no.
I'll probably never be as popular as them.

So hey...if you're reading this you're pretty cool. Don't compare yourself to others- it'll just bring you unneeded strife. And remember to tell yourself:
